ABOUT CHEF MATT STORY
Chef Matt Story took the South Shore foodie scene by storm with the opening of his latest restaurant, Thirty-Nine Court. As someone who has been cooking full meals since he was a boy, it’s no surprise that the venture is a nod to our favorite homestyle dishes.
Beginning at age 21, Matt had spent years working in kitchens on the South Shore before he decided he wanted to make the restaurant business a long-term career choice. His first entrepreneurial ventures were two made-to-order pizza parlors, Riva Pizzeria, located in Scituate and Marshfield.
After a few years in the pizza business, Matt was eager to get back to his creative culinary roots and wanted to have the freedom to be more innovative in the kitchen. Inspired by the favorite dishes of his wife and daughter, he sought to craft a fine dining experience that was both delicious and accessible.
Matt’s philosophy on food is “cook the food you like to eat, taste everything and be your own harshest critic.” He says he knows what a recipe should look and taste like before it’s ever made. “The magic is putting everything you've visualized on the plate and knowing you’ve hit a homerun.”
ABOUT THIRTY-NINE COURT
Thirty-Nine Court is the brainchild of Chef Matt Story. It is a fine dining, small plate restaurant one block away from the beautiful waterfront in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The menu is based on the chef’s favorite childhood dishes, but with an adult spin. Inside, family is the focus with wait staff trained to be helpful but not intrusive, creating an intimate environment.
The menu was designed for tasting, allowing customers to try a variety of dishes that are sure to surprise and delight. The nostalgic flavors in the fine dining atmosphere prove that great food does not need to be pretentious.
